Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling (CMHC)
Designed to prepare students as professional counseling practitioners offering services for a wide variety of mental health issues in culturally diverse populations, the Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling (CMHC) program consists of a two-year academic course sequence followed by a one-year full-time internship placement. In order to educate students who have dedicated their lives to helping others cope with all kinds of difficulties, the curriculum focuses on understanding abnormal behavior characteristics related to individual, group, family, and career counseling. After successfully completing the program and a minimum of 3,200 hours of post-master's supervised experience in the field, graduates are qualified to apply for licensure as a Licensed Professional Counselor of Mental Health (LPCMH) in Delaware.
Master of Science in Community Counseling (MSCC)
The Master of Science in Community Counseling (MSCC) program at Wilmington University is designed to prepare students to be practicing counselors in a variety of community settings. Emphasizing the role of human relationships, the curriculum aims to help students develop individual, group, and family counseling skills. With a long history of meeting the unique needs of adult learners, the program is offered on-campus at the Wilson Graduate Center and Dover campus with convenient evening scheduling. While completing the program, students are eligible to take the National Counselor Examination (NCE) to become a National Certified Counselor (NCC) before graduation. Upon the next reaccreditation in 2014, the CMHC and MSCC program will be joining together to make one large Master's counseling program with separate concentrations.
