Pennsylvania State University World Campus is the distance learning campus for the university, established in 1998. However, distance learning is not new to Penn State as they began offering correspondence courses as early as 1892. Pennsylvania State University World Campus Accreditation Details
Penn State World Campus is accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools. In addition, many of the individual programs have additional accreditation status from many organizations and agencies, further indicating the quality of education received at Penn State’s World Campus.
Pennsylvania State University World Campus Application Requirements
To apply for attendance at Penn State’s World Campus, students must have a high school diploma or equivalent. Transfer students must provide official transcripts from any college or university attended. Military transcripts are also accepted. Students for whom English is not a first language may be required to submit the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or International English Language Testing System (IELTS) scores.
Pennsylvania State University World Campus Tuition and Financial Aid
Undergraduate tuition at Penn State’s World Campus is $535 per credit hour for students taking less than 12 credits per semester. Students taking more than 12 credit hours per semester pay a flat tuition rate of $6,506. Graduate tuition rates vary based on the program taken.
Financial aid is available for both full- and part-time students. In addition, Penn State offers a deferred payment plan which allows students to pay their tuition bill in installments over three months. Penn State accepts third-party payments, such as those provided by an employer for tuition and will allow students to defer payment until the end of the semester in order to obtain reimbursement from an employer. Students who are unemployed may be eligible for educational benefits through the Trade Adjustment Assistance or the Workforce Investment Act. Military payment options are also accepted at Penn State.
Students transferring from another college or university and plans to apply for federal student aid must notify their previous school that they will not be returning, requesting that they cancel all pending aid disbursements as students may not receive federal aid at two different institutions.
All students must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) in order to qualify for federal aid.

For students who have 59 or fewer credits when they enter the program, the tuition rate is $535 per credit hour if they are taking fewer than 12 credits per semester. For those taking 12 or more credits, the rate is a flat fee of $6,506. For students with 60 or more credits, tuition is $579 per credit hour for 12 credits or less and a flat fee of $7,041 for those taking 12 credits or more.
